Personality of the edition
H.E. Ambassador Foday M.D. Seisay
On this 47th Anniversary of our independence, I, on behalf of the President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, the Government and people of Sierra Leone, join all Sierra Leoneans everywhere in celebration and jubilation. This independence anniversary is a cause for celebration. We have survived as a Nation. After several years of pain and suffering and a decade of death and destruction, deprivation and despair, grief and sorrow, bitterness and carnage, arson and violations of the very basics of humanitarian values, the nation has emerged strengthened in democratic values. Without vindictiveness or bitterness, democratic elections were held first in 2002 and 2007 with an unprecedented transition from a ruling party to an opposition. This should make us proud and this alone should be a cause for jubilation, celebration and we should congratulate ourselves as a nation for this achievement. With calmness, peace and stability, we should be confident in our next great challenge-Reducing poverty and raising the standard of living of our people. ‘LONG LIVE SIERRA LEONE’
